Waimea means literally, “red water” in Hawaiian. The distinctly red dirt in Waimea sets this sunny western side of Kauai apart. It is also home to Waimea Canyon, also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, is a large canyon, approximately ten miles long and up to 3,000 feet deep.
